Appaloosa proudly presents the new album of Italian singer-songwriter Andrea Parodi, who thus sums it up: “Why should we stand firmly in Italy only? Or why should we pretend we’re Americans? I love De André, but also Bob Dylan. De Gregory, but also Bruce Springsteen”. Andrea Parodi managed to build a bridge between these two worlds in one surprising album, titled “Zabala”. 12 songs in the best Italian songwriting tradition, played with American musicians like David Bromberg, Larry Campbell, Joel Guzman, Steve Wyckham of the Waterboys, Scarlet Rivera (the Queen of Swords who captivated Bob Dylan), and rock guitarist David Grissom, long-time collaborator of John Cougar Mellencamp. Rock, folk, and Tex-Mex ballads, as well as one song in English featuring Joe Ely, James McMurtry, Greg Brown, Sarah Lee Guthrie and Oscar winner Ryan Bingham. “Zabala” is an unprecedented Italian rock opera, a journey that took 8 years to be completed and that contains all the work and the encounters of these long years. Carlo Feltrinelli calls Andrea “a dream perpetrator” and we believe this is going to be one of the best records of the year, in Italy and across the border.
