Nadat Vredenburg al een grote reputatie had opgebouwd met haar jaarlijkse Bluesestafette werd in 2000 het initiatief genomen om ook een groots opgezet Roots/Americana festival te programmeren.
Op zaterdag 18 maart 2000 opende Vredenburg dan ook haar deuren voor het eerste Blue Highways Festival met namen als Ray Wylie Hubbard, The Mamou Playboys, Lynn Miles, Guy Clark, The Amazing Rhythm Aces en Richard Buckner.
Door de jaren heen bleef de programmering steeds ijzersterk en een mix van allerlei stijlen door artiesten op allerlei niveaus in hun carrière. Vele grote namen konden hun faam bevestigen en andere jonge acts kregen hun eerste kans op een groot rootspodium.
Nadat enige tijd van betrekkelijke rust en nadat Vredenburg grootschalig was verbouwd en uitgebreid nam het hernieuwde Tivoli/Vredenburg het stokje weer op met het Ramblin Roots Festival.
CRS prijst zich gelukkig middels veel van haar artiesten op de affiches van Blues Highways, Roots In The Park en Ramblin Roots te hebben gehad...........................
Een aantal van die CRS artiesten zijn vertegenwoordigd op deze sampler die jullie in samenwerking met Ramblin Roots en Tivoli/Vredenburg wordt aangeboden.
