Only Now by Osborne Jones is the culmination of a mission embarked on many years ago when two young friends and guitar strummers were looking for something to inspire them musically as they languished in the heartlands of dreary suburbia.
That inspiration would manifest itself in a vinyl copy of The Gilded Palace of Sin by The Flying Burrito Brothers which led on further investigation to a whole realm of music by the old and new purveyors of this genre called Country: from Hank Williams through George Jones and Merle Haggard to The Byrds and The whole West Coast scene and all points in between and beyond.
As life love and the inevitable distractions that everyone experiences took place and despite now living on different continents that yearning to draw on that initial inspiration and bring an original and fresh perspective to it remained until eventually the stars aligned in such a way as to enable
the making of this album: Only Now.
Drawing on the intervening years of writing recording and performing in many configurations on both sides of the Atlantic and having laid down a blueprint of what they were aiming for on previous albums such as Out Of Blue Yonder and In The Moment, at last under the direction of Rick Shea and with the studio skills of Mark Linett on board, that vision was realised.
By inviting some amazingly respected and gifted musicians to contribute, Osborne Jones were able to capture the sound that had been haunting their various individual and collaborative projects throughout their careers. With echoes of Parsons The Possum and Presley but distinctively
with their own sound, finally that early envisaged mission has been accomplished and is available
to all………. Only Now
