Lyon’s 14th album 'My Throat Is Soar' skirts modern digital sound.
Embracing an old craft and giving favour to new quirks, Shannon Lyon's latest CD (and 14th studio album) My Throat Is Soar skirts today's modern digital soundscapes and adopts the lo-fi charm of a four-track cassette recorder resulting in an intimate and candid expose`.
Recorded live-off-the-floor in Lyon's Lake Huron cabin studio during the winter of 2015, My Throat Is Soar captures Lyon's trademark world weary voice and unsheltered lyrical wranglings of lost love and undying reflection as shown on the opening track The Cherry Tree Song.
The breadth of human experience found in Lyon's lyrics is a combination of introspective truth-letting and memorable melody making that cross polinates humour with sadness as found in songs The Sandwich Man and I Speak France.
Lyon sprinkles in a few previously unrecorded songs which include Minnesota Highway and Border Cop Patrol.
With a musical career spanning two decades (including a decade of living in Europe), this nomad artist presently calls Ontario home.
Music from Lyon's latest offering will be performed at his upcoming album release concerts.
